On Saturday, October 16, SOAPnet debuts I WANNA BE A SOAP STAR, an AMERICAN IDOL-esque reality contest in which a dozen wannabe daytime stars compete for the grand prize of a 13-week role on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Throughout the competition, the actors are judged by three very diverse members of the soap community - Casting Director Mark Teschner, actress Debbi Morgan, and talent manager Michael Bruno. Since the winner gets a role on GH, it's really important that Mark was involved. Mark said that the toughest thing was to be brutally honest with the contestants. Debbi thinks this show is a great idea and likes that the judges on Soap Star get to pick the winners - unlike on American Idol where the public gets to vote. Michael points out that their three reputations are on the line as well since they have to pick the winner. |
